Choose Your Products Wisely
When promoting a product or service, make sure it solves a problem or has some intrinsic value that'll be attractive to the potential buyer.
Choose products that you would actually use and buy for yourself. Try the product first to see if it's worth the money, time and effort before promoting it.
Next, write a product review and give some pros and cons about the program you purchased, and give a recommendation on whether or not your audience should buy it.
I usually purchase programs after reading or watching product reviews, because I need to know how the program works, and if it's worth my time and money.
And if you're on the fence about spending money on a new program in the beginning, try some free programs that you can start with and get your feet wet and learn a thing or two, and then afterwards you can upgrade to paid programs once you're confident in your knowledge & skill-set.
Be Patient
Most online affiliates expect success after only promoting for a short while. But, like most things in life worth the wait, it takes time to materialize. We all find our groove differently when taking on certain tasks. So, we just have to be patient and put in the work and let the fruit of our labor show up in due season - if we plant our seeds right.
Be mindful in the beginning that some people will achieve success promoting expensive high ticket offers, while others may only have success with low ticket offers - while continuing to building their list or following - gaining valuable knowledge & experience before cracking the code of success - allowing them to earn while they learn before they scale up.
Always try to start with what best fits your current skill-set. Because whatever you're good at or already have a passion for, you'll excel and grow much faster at that thing - remember that!

Traffic Matters
Generating Quality Traffic is THE biggest challenge you'll face as an affiliate marketer - with so many gimmicks and gurus pulling you every which-a-way, giving mixed views on the best sources of traffic, it can get confusing - considering they spend tons on paid advertising or have a huge social media following - while telling you. you can achieve their level of success with no money and no following using only free traffic methods.
Now, obviously there are exceptions to any rule, but they're not the norm and they know that.
But I get it. It's about motivating & encouraging beginners. And that's a good thing - as long as it doesn't mislead or over-simplify a "not-so-simple" process, and it helps create in them the right mind-set for achieving their goals.
Important note: A Lack of consistent quality traffic is one of the biggest reasons for failure in the online affiliate marketing/start-up business space.
The alternative to forking over big bucks for expensive advertising is having a huge social media following. This gives you instant access to loads of eyeballs on your products, offers and services without you needing to do much...except present the offer - and in some cases, is the reason some people are more successful than others online starting out...due to this advantage.
But, since that's not always the norm for most starting out, other ways of getting quality traffic to your offers have to be explored.......LIKE....
Writing articles, using free advertising networks, traffic exchanges, free safe-list sites, opt-in list email marketing, posting to social media with the following you do have, as well as search engine website submissions for seo rankings - which helps get you found in search engines search results, which can lead to more organic traffic.
Although some of these methods work well for getting eyeballs on your offers, getting those people to click on your offer and buy from you is a whole other feat in itself.
Finally:
Test, Learn, Be You
Don't forget to test your campaigns to see which ads or traffic sources worked and which one's didn't, so you can accurately measure your results and make the necessary changes to improve your campaigns.
Thankfully, there are a lot of free and paid online resources available that'll help you learn what you don't know to grow your affiliate marketing/online business to go to that next level in your business.
One of the best ways to learn what you don't know, is to learn from others who've already been where you're trying to go.
But, it's important the lessons that you take away from them are incorporated into your own style or brand in the way that you promote and advertise,
(even if you're not promoting your own product or service).
Be unique in a sea of competitors where everyone looks and sounds the same - selling and promoting the same offers.
